Pull on a light scarf across the lower part of your face and pull a cap down over your forehead. Wear a protective coating of natural moisturizer on your face. Train yourself to drink extra water to maintain moisture balance from within. Favor spring water with a pH of 7.5 for balanced hydration. Brahmi (Bacopa), Amla (Indian Gooseberry), Shatavari (Indian Asparagus), Gotu kola (Indian Pennywort) and Ashwagandha (Winter Cherry) are powerful Vata-pacifying skin rasayanas that help maintain skin elasticity, moisture balance, texture and radiance. For example you can apply a paste made from one teaspoon of cumin seeds and remove it after one hour.
If you want to keep your skin lubricated you should do a warm oil self-massage – it is an excellent method for this. Use a light, all-natural moisturizer to keep facial skin hydrated. Kapha skin, because of its thickness and oiliness, is more prone to collect ama – toxins beneath the skin. Amla, Kumari (aloe vera), Bhringaraj (Eclipta alba), White Sandalwood, Red Sandalwood and Lajawanti (Mimosa) are the pre-eminent Pitta-pacifying skin rasayanas. Neem, Manjistha (Indian Madder), Triphala, Tulsi (Holy Basil) and Turmeric are potent Kapha-balancing skin rasayanas. They help detoxify the skin while nourishing it at the same time. For example, you can apply a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves and wash off it with warm water. Performing this before going to bed you can prevents pimples.
